Join our team! The Village of Middleville is seeking applicants for an Equipment Operator in the Department of Public Works.
Pay and Benefits
The starting compensation range for this position is $25.77-$27.77 per hour, dependent on qualifications and experience. Additionally, the Village of Middleville offers health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement through MERS. All full-time employees are also eligible for paid 2 weeks vacation, 3 personal days, and 6 sick days after a full year of service. With a maximum of 5 weeks paid vacation after 15 years of service.
For this position, we grant an annual allowance of $300 for boots. Uniforms are provided and laundered by a third-party company. We cover the cost of job-related training, certifications, and licenses to help our team members excel in their positions.

About the department of public works
The DPW works to keep the Village of Middleville beautiful, functional, and safe for the residents of Middleville. The department maintains the Village’s infrastructure of 28 miles of underground water and sewer mains, 19 miles of Village streets, various parking lots, 5 miles of the Paul Henry Thornapple Trail, 6 parks and recreational sites, as well as a fleet of vehicles. The DPW is also responsible for snow plowing, street cleaning and yard waste collection.

Requirements
Our ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum qualifications include a CDLB with airbrakes or ability to obtain the license within 6 months of hire, one to two years of experience in a maintenance environment, knowledge of standard construction practices, a solid mechanical aptitude, and a clean driving record. The position requires the candidate to reside within a 35-mile radius of the Village. Additionally, this position requires the selected candidate to be on call 24/7 from Thursday through Wednesday approximately every six to seven weeks. Compensation is provided for all on-call periods. The selected candidate must pass a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
