What is a Pre-Development meeting?

A pre-development meeting allows interested parties to learn more about the development process. This includes timeframes, applications, permits, fees, and what can be approved administratively versus what requires board action. These factor into the cost and timeframe for approval. Furthermore, it helps in determining whether the development is in line with the zoning ordinance and master plan.

A predevelopment meeting, helps the petitioner understand the logistics making the development process smoother and understand what is required. Additionally, the petitioner can also learn about what financial incentives may be available, and what the process is to acquire them.
What information is helpful to have prior to a Pre-Development Meeting?
How does the Pre-Development Meeting Work?

Staff reference zoning requirements and the master plan to assist in determining what is needed. They utilize checklists to determine when an application is complete. The Site Plan Performance Checklist details types of items that may need to be addressed for a development to be approved while the Site Plan (Article V) document details action items that need to occur for a site plan to be approved for items that need to go before the site plan review committee or plan commission.”
